About ESE

ESE is a pen and paper-based exam. The Prelims stage of the exam consists of two papers - General Studies and Engineering Aptitude, and Engineering Discipline-specific Paper. Both papers consist of multiple-choice questions. The Mains stage of the exam consists of a conventional (essay) type paper in the candidate's chosen engineering discipline. The Interview stage is the final stage of the exam.

What is the ESE?

The Engineering Services Examination (ESE), also known as the Indian Engineering Services (IES) examination, is a competitive examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. The primary purpose of the ESE is to recruit engineers for various technical and managerial posts in government organizations.ESE is regarded as the most competitive engineering exam in India. Moreover, candidates are recruited to various departments and ministries of the Indian government. Therefore, they are highly respected throughout the country.
